Teach.org published a guest blog by Adrienne Williams, Urban Teachers alumna and 1st grade teacher in DC. In the post, Adrienne discusses how she uses text sets "to build [her students] capacity to access and interact with complex text." She says: "After creating new text sets to accompany our units, my first graders have researched germs, mummies, and Mayan folktales. I can see their growth. They start a unit tentative and curious but end confident and excited to share what they’ve learned. They become the experts in the room." Click here to read the full blog.
