Examiner.com Mentions Urban Teachers as a Solution for Improving Teacher Retention

Examiner.com reporter Deanna Delgado discussed the negative impact of teacher turnover on student achievement in "Teachers, the other urban drop out". Delgado explains that new teachers often lack the preparation and on-the-job support needed to be successful in the classroom. As a result, approximately half of urban school teachers leave their job within three years. Urban Teachers, formerly named Urban Teacher Center (UTC), however, was presented as a possible solution "by providing a multi-year training program to new teachers in order to effectively prepare them for the classroom, providing new teachers with 4 years of support and experiential training."
